City Hall Bistro

Sarah and I had the true pleasure of eating lunch at the recently opened City Hall Bistro last month. Situated in the historic Adolphus Hotel, City Hall Bistro gets it's name from the hotel's legacy as the site for Dallas' original city hall. Pretty cool, right? Now imagine a beautiful bright restaurant filled with white subway tiles, brass finishes, and marble surfaces. We fell in love with the space before even trying the food!

After settling into our comfortable leather booth facing the open kitchen, we were greeted with the sweetest waitress offering us a drink or cocktail to start. I am a gin lover and was immediately drawn to the Much Like Provence cocktail comprised of genever, lemon, lavender sugar, and soda. It was too good! I could have had 2.... or 3.... or 10 :).

We started making our way through the carefully curated menu filled with delicious modern, European-inspired dishes. We couldn't settle for just an entree, so we each started with a salad. I had the delicate Spinach & Fig salad with marcona almonds, orange, feta, and a honey-lemon vinaigrette. Sarah started with the Tomato & Cucumber salad, which was anything but standard. Honestly, I thought this salad was executed perfectly and I wish I knew how they made vegetables taste so delicious!

For our mains, Sarah had a Lobster Flatbread with asparagus, harissa, and parsley and I had the Aleppo Prawns served head-on in a warm tomato broth.... the prawns melted in your mouth! Everything was SO good. We ate every bite and unlike most meals, we felt satisfied but not overly full. The portions and complexity of each dish were just right. I wish more restaurants made me feel this way.

Sarah finished the meal with the Spanish Churros served with saffron gelato and olive oil caramel... who even thinks of something this good?! You won't even miss the cinnamon usually associated with churros. Our server recommended a dessert rosé wine for me and it hit the spot.

So if you haven't stopped yet to book a table, we suggest making a concerted effort to visit City Hall Bistro for lunch, happy hour, or dinner in your near future. You might even see us there, again ;).
